Quarterly Reports
Just like stock exchanges mandate that companies file quarterly reports to their investors, I've recently decided to start writing quarterly reports to myself. I got the idea from Ali Abdaal who's been writing his own quarterly reviews in his newsletters for some time. It's a great reflective exercise to track yourself and your progress. I spent around roughly 3 hours over a few days in completing the exercise.
Here's the format that Ali Abdaal recommends for the exercise.
- What were the top 3 big wins of the past 3 months and why?
- What were the 3 biggest challenges, and what did you learn from them?
- What are the top 3 aspirations for the coming 3 months? And what’s the biggest risk they might not happen? And what are you going to do to mitigate that risk?
While I use this as a template, I try not to force myself to come up with three instances or stick to three if I find more things that I think I'd like to focus on more. I will try to keep these reviews as public as possible. However, I realise I may need to edit some parts of this to protect some personal information.
Finally, if it would be helpful for you to have a buddy to read your review, then I’d be delighted to read yours - you can send them to me at veluthoor@gmail.com :)
